Summer School

Atlanta Public Schools is currently accepting applications for summer school opportunities. You must be a current full-time APS employee of the Atlanta Public Schools system to be considered for a Summer School position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active full-time employees, with a proven track record of impacting student learning, of the Atlanta Public Schools system.
  • Possession of all appropriate licenses, certificates, and contracts for the 2021-2022 school year; non-renewals, expiring certificates, and contract for the separations (excluding retirees) will not be considered for summer school employment.
  • Acceptable previous and current course grades, as verified by available data and school principal/administrator.
  • Acceptable rating by school principal/administrator (to be completed electronically by your school principal after you have submitted a completed application online).

Professional Development

Teachers are required to attend the designated virtual professional learning sessions. Two after-school sessions (2 hours each) will be held the week of May 10; a four-hour session on Saturday, May 22; a five-hour session on Friday, May 28, and a planning session on Tuesday, June 1. Additionally, teachers will have the opportunity to engage in planning and/or curriculum-based professional learning at the end of each instructional day.

Step One

Create a Profile

  • Select the icon ‘Current Employees Login Here’.
  • Create an Account with a username and password. If you have previously created an account, skip to item 6.
  • Make sure to complete all required fields on the profile. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
  • You will know your profile is complete when you receive the message: ‘You have successfully created a user account!’
  • Click the login button.
  • Type in your username and password.
  • Click ‘login’ to enter the applicant tracking system.
  • Read the disclaimer and ‘Accept’.
Step Two

Complete the Application

  • Click on ‘My Application’ to complete or update your application. If you have previously completed your internal application, skip to item 13.
  • Make sure to complete ALL sections of the application (i.e., Employee Profile, Education, Certification and Qualification, NCLB Highly Qualified, Employment Preferences, Attachments, Background Information, etc.).
  • Click on ‘Save and Next’ at the bottom of the page to go through each section of the application.
  • You will know your application is complete, when you receive this message: ‘Success – Employee’s Name’
Step Three

Apply for Positions

  • Click on ‘Jobs’.
  • Select ‘All Jobs’ or ‘Job Search’.

If you select ‘Job Search’, type “*summer*” to view ALL Summer School vacancies.

  • Click on ‘View/Apply’ to read the job posting.
  • Click ‘Apply’ to link this job to your application.

A questionnaire will pop up for each job for which you apply.

Complete the questionnaire.

  • To verify application submitted, complete the following:

Click on ‘Jobs’.

Select ‘Applied Jobs’ to view applications submitted for positions.
